High Level Description
The increasing adoption of DevSecOps practices in cloud computing aims to unify development, security, and operations by automating security controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle. As organizations accelerate deployment cycles with rapid automation, questions arise about the effects of velocity with how quickly changes, tests, and releases propagate on system reliability and end-user experience. Balancing speed and robust security is particularly critical in cloud environments, where the cost of incidents and downtime can be significant. This thesis will investigate how the pace of DevSecOps automation influences the stability, security, and perceived quality of cloud applications, and will seek strategies that maximize both agility and reliability.
Project Description
This thesis project will evaluate how automation speed in DevSecOps pipelines affects key measures of system reliability, such as error rates, downtime, and incident response, as well as the overall user experience. The research will compare different automation strategies, including fast-paced continuous deployment and more conservative release schedules, measuring the advantages and drawbacks of each method.
The work will involve setting up DevSecOps pipelines with different speeds of automation, measuring how often errors happen, how quickly issues are fixed, and what users experience. Testing will use real or simulated cloud workloads and standard DevSecOps tools. Results will be analysed to recommend strategies for maintaining agility without sacrificing robustness.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for bachelor or master students in computer science or related fields who have a strong interest in cloud computing and automation. Basic knowledge of DevSecOps principles and hands-on experience with cloud platforms will be helpful. The ideal candidate is eager to learn about system reliability, security, and user experience while working on practical experiments and analysis.
Purpose
The purpose of this thesis is to understand how the speed of DevSecOps automation affects the reliability of cloud systems and the experience of users. The research aims to find a good balance where organizations can deploy quickly without causing instability or poor user experience. The findings will help improve the way cloud systems are built and managed in real-world environments.
