Compliance & Management is where I thrive
Josefine Göthe is Area Manager at Knightec Group and responsible for the Industrial Development department in Stockholm. She is passionate about helping customers tackle their challenges and knows how important it is to create a culture where people—and in turn, business—can thrive.
How would you describe your role and what you do in your daily work at Knightec Group?
I am responsible for a department of around 40 consultants, including some team managers, where we all work with sales. Meeting customers and helping them navigate their challenges is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my role. My main responsibility is to create a profitable department with strong growth, which means I need to focus on several different areas, such as recruitment, customer meetings, HR matters, setting strategies and goals (both short- and long-term), planning activities, and making decisions—both fun and sometimes tough ones. It’s a real mix!
One of my biggest passions is company culture. I believe it’s crucial to create an environment where a healthy and positive corporate culture can flourish. A strong culture also helps us improve different processes, stay ahead of industry trends, and remain a cutting-edge tech partner for our customers.
In practical terms, my days consist of many meetings with various decision-makers, both internally and externally (customers). No two weeks are alike, and I love the variety in my work!
How have you developed in your role since you started here?
I started as a consultant in validation. Before joining Semcon, I worked as a consultant at both Knightec and AFRY. Over time, I worked closely with our Key Account Managers and gradually took on more responsibility in sales, which I really enjoyed. Eventually, I had the opportunity to cover for a Team Manager and try my hand at leadership. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but it turned out I liked being a manager! I got my own team and became a Team Manager with a strong focus on sales.
It has been an incredibly fun and educational experience to help build team deliveries within quality and validation, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry. I have learned a lot about leadership, and by being part of the management team, I now have a much clearer understanding of the entire consulting process—it’s easier to see the bigger picture. Since April 2024, I have been an Area Manager, now also responsible for budgeting and many other aspects of the business. It’s a complex and exciting role that allows me to see the full picture and work strategically to achieve our goals.
What’s the best thing about working as a consultant in engineering?
I would say that being a consultant allows you to build your network in a fantastic way. You meet so many people and get the opportunity to work on large-scale projects that would take much longer to access if you weren’t a consultant. There’s also great freedom in being able to try out different projects, clients, and workplaces.
