As Software & Cloud, I get to work with the latest cutting-edge technology
Rasmus Martaeng works as a software developer at Knightec Group – his first job straight after his studies. Read more about what Rasmus does at work and how he makes sure to develop in his role.
How would you describe your role and what you do in your daily work at Knightec Group?
I help the customer with all sorts of things! Sure, on paper, it says software developer, but I’m involved in the entire process – from the initial idea stage to testing physical prototypes. Office tasks can include participating in concept brainstorming sessions, documenting inventions, or evaluating suppliers. If I want to do something more hands-on, I can solder circuit boards, 3D-print mockups, or build test rigs. And, of course, coding.
How have you developed in your role since you started here?
I started here right after graduation and was thrown straight into an early-stage development project, which felt a bit daunting. Fortunately, Knightec Group paired me with a senior consultant, so I could get started right away while always having someone to turn to for help. I truly believe that you get good at what you do and that you grow by facing challenges. Now, a few years later, it doesn’t feel daunting at all. I have a much better understanding of how the industrial world works and can gradually take on bigger and bigger responsibilities. It happens organically. Self-regulating.
What’s the best thing about working as an engineering consultant?
I love keeping up with the latest developments. As a consultant, I get to work with cutting-edge technology and help shape the future. AI, sustainability, printed electronics – it’s all happening. I can already feel that what I learned during my bachelor’s degree a few years ago is starting to become outdated. The only way to keep developing is to be in it – working with it, attending inspirational lectures, and surrounding yourself with consultants who are smarter than you. And there are plenty of those at Knightec Group.
